J.W. Hulme Co.'s most prized asset is our team of artisans. Walk into the J.W. Hulme Co. workshop and you'll be surrounded by more than 100 years of collective hands-on experience! The staff is made up of an amazing array of skills and areas of expertise. Martha, for example, is an Inuit Alaskan who began sewing on seal skins at the age of five. Miguel, our senior leather cutter, learned to cut leather as a young man in Cuba in 1980.

To ensure these precious skills are kept alive, J.W. Hulme Co. practices an apprenticeship approach to training. Master sewers are paired with fabric sewers to guide them in enhancing their craft, including the intricate assembly of leather products. Our approach is collaborative in all ways. Each bag is touched by several artisans during its creation, and ideas for improvements flow freely. We've also added a talented team of new product designers who work closely with our artisans in the selection of materials and developing prototypes.
