Product Development Associate

Reports to:VP of Brand Management and Product Development & Design Manager

Role:Drive the product development process from concept to production

Compensation:Hourly


Primary responsibilities:
-Review tech packs with Designer and Product Development Team
-Create patterns using CAD program based off designers tech packs and sketches
-Cut and sew prototypes with in-house manufacturing capabilities
-Create initial pricing for prototypes
-Review prototypes with Designer
-Review prototypes and revisions with CEO, VP Brand, Designer, and Product Development team
-Revise prototypes based on feedback
-Organize and document each prototype throughout the process
-Responsible for managing completed samples/prototypes
-Create bill of materials, routing, sewing, and manufacturing instructions
-Conduct performance testing for each new product working closely with in-house manufacturing team
-Manage tracking documents for testing process
-Deliver accurate and complete CAD files
-Value engineer existing product
-Create photo samples for Marketing/Creative Department


Required Skills:
-Sewing experience, industrial sewing is a plus
-Pattern making experience
-Experience with CAD, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Access
-Excel, Sage 100, Google Docs, and Adobe is a plus
-High attention to detail, an ability to multi-task, prioritize and keep track of multiple projects simultaneously.
-Strong problem solving, and communication skills, detail oriented.
-Ability to maintain focus in a busy environment.

VP DTC

Role:
The VP DTC is a critical part of J.W. Hulme’s leadership team, heading up DTC and digital commerce businesses and being accountable for their overall success. This role will be responsible for all digital technology, digital marketing, user experience, and business intelligence. Additionally, the VP DTC will work closely with catalog marketing, customer service and fulfillment operations to ensure an optimal, end-to-end customer experience.

This individual will work closely with the CEO on the annual DTC channel sales plan, managing the P/L, and forecasting. They will be responsible for developing and executing strategies and growth plans to deliver aggressive revenue and profitability goals against planned budgets.

Candidate:
The VP DTC at J.W. Hulme will have proven experience and success growing sales and delivering an exceptional customer experience for small to mid-size businesses. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise and experience with customer acquisition and retention, direct mail strategies and analysis, website analytics, business intelligence, and user experience. Familiarity with international digital commerce is preferred.

He/she will approach the business strategically, possess strong analytical aptitude, and operate in a very hands-on manner. They will have working knowledge and expertise related to the digital commerce technology ecosystem, with an understanding of the efficacy of catalogs.

Key Responsibilities:
-Partner with the CEO to establish forecasts, budgets, KPI targets, and the overall DTC commerce P/L
-Develop, plan, and execute a catalog and digital strategy that enables the brand to achieve aggressive sales goals
-Analyze and report on all digital KPIs and trends including, but not limited to: traffic, conversion, sales, bounce rate, AOV, traffic by sources, and marketing budget ROI by channel
-Leverage reporting to adjust and improve plans on an ongoing basis
-Day-to-day management of all DTC channels including executing operational strategies, external agencies and partners, and resolution of issues related to the non-digital and digital business or technology
-Work with internal team and external agency partners to identify opportunities for increased traffic and customer acquisition
-Develop acquisition and retention programs that maximize new and repeat visits, engagement, customer lifetime value, conversion, average order value, loyalty, and ROI
-In partnership with external agencies, continually identify site and mobile user experience improvement strategies and new technologies to deliver best-in-class user experience
-Cultivate a culture of test and learn, owning and managing on-going optimization plan in partnership with external media agency
-Measure and optimize ROI of all marketing initiatives on an ongoing basis
-Identify consumer profiles and behavioral patterns to inform customer segmentation, content targeting, and personalization strategies
-Serve as J.W. Hulme’s expert and thought leader on all things related to DTC commerce
-Manage one or more direct reports
-Minimal travel required

Skills and Experience
-10+ years’ experience in digital commerce; at least five in a leadership position
-Luxury products and brand experience is strongly preferred
-Experience leading all business and operational aspects of a digital commerce business, including a strong understanding of digital marketing, digital commerce technologies, the overall digital commerce ecosystem, customer service, and fulfillment
-Experience working with catalog/direct mail-driven marketing initiatives
-Driving customer engagement and revenue through new digital sales channels such as social media, community, content, and viral marketing
-Proven results in growing sales and customer acquisition and improving ROI of marketing spend via non-promotional means across all digital and traditional devices
-Forward-thinking leader
-Possess an understanding all of the cost drivers required to support a DTC business
-Proven ability using quantitative inputs to identify trends, behaviors, and subsequent actions to drive improvements in the online channel
-A desire and ability to act as a true team player to help grow a foundational department

Assembler and Machine Maintainer

Title: Assembler and Machine Maintainer

Reports to: Assembly and Shop Maintenance Lead

Compensation: Full Time or Seasonal, Hourly

Position Summary:
Main job function is to rivet and assemble top quality products using the highest technical abilities, knowledge and efficiency. Supports Assembly and Shop Maintenance Lead, Training and Process Supervisor and Sewing Leads.
Primary responsibilities:
- Efficient and timely top quality assembly
- Maintain full knowledge of construction on all products;coordinate with Process Supervisor on needed improvements
- Follow construction instructions from leads
- Instruct other all factory workers and elements that effect assembly
- Routine machine adjustments

Required Skills:
- Handling of 18oz fabric with leather
- Reading Work Order Travelers
- Handling of up to 3 layers of 5oz leathers
- Routine handling of 9oz leathers
- Understands all rivet, wheel and handle applications
- Ability run all assembly machines
- Ability to communicate instructions
- Ability to assemble rolling products
- Additional skills: assembly & equipment maintenance
- Buffing of appropriate leathers

Master Cutter & Leather Room Support

Title:Master Cutter & Leather Room Support

Reports to:Factory Supervisor

Compensation: Full Time or Seasonal, Hourly

Position Summary:
Main job function is to cut quality products using the highest technical skills to maximize yields. Supports Factory Supervisor.

Primary responsibilities:
- Highest level of quality and efficient use of time and hide material
- Maintain full knowledge of construction on all products
- Follow construction instructions from leads
- Instruct other factory workers and elements that affect leather usage
- Routine adjustments of leather cutting equipment
- Skiving, painting, splitting as needed
- Cleaning & general maintenance of equipment and leather room as needed
- Other general tasks required by Lead

Required Skills:
- Handling and cutting all weights of leather
- Handling all types of leather hides
- Ability to run all leather cutting,splitting and skiving machines
- Ability to communicate instructions
- Additional skills: general leather cutting equipment maintenance

Master Sewer

Title: Master Sewer

Reports to: Factory Supervisor

Compensation:Full Time or Seasonal, Hourly

Position Summary:
Main job function is to sew and teach/support the sewing of quality products using the highest sewing abilities, knowledge and efficiency. Supports Plant Manager.

Primary responsibilities:
- Highest level of quality and efficient sewing
- Maintain full knowledge of sewing construction on all products
- Follow construction instructions from leads
- Instruct other sewers
- Routine machine adjustments

Required Skills:
- Handling of 18oz fabric with leather
- Handling of up to 3 layers of 5oz leathers
- Routine handling of 9oz leathers
- Understands all zipper applications
- Ability to sew larger leather bags
- Ability to sew welting, binding and fitting of all bag ends
- Ability run all machines
- Ability to communicate instructions
- Has one of the following additional skills: pattern making, leather cutting, fabric cutting, sample sewing, sales support
